Ener G believes crawlspaces should not be vented to the exterior. They should have their floors un-insulated, the ground vapor sealed, their walls insulated and air sealed, and their air conditioned with indoor air.
To improve your crawlspace we do the following:
- Close up vents
- Air seal rim joist areas and penetrations
- Add continuous vapor barrier on dirt floors
- Add 2 inches of closed cell foam to foundation walls
- Circulate air from the living space into the crawlspace
The goal is to create a “conditioned crawlspace” not a “unvented crawlspace".
